Our monthly meetings include several informative presentations and tutorials from industry professionals using Apple’s digital media solutions and associated tools from related vendors.

Meetings are held on the last Monday of each month from 7pm to 9pm.

Our next meeting will be on Monday, January 30th at 7:00pm.

This month:

  • We’ll examine a case study on making purchasing decisions during these transitionary times.
  • Ed McNichol will update us on his experience learning Final Cut Pro X, and he’ll demonstrate how he used FCPX as a workflow tool for FCP7, using Intelligent Assistance’s Xto7 app.
  • Also from Intelligence Assistance, we’ll see a demo of how Event Manger X can manage active Events and Projects.
  • Ed will also give us a sampling of the library of effects offered in the newly updated FxFactory Pro 3.0.
  • Gordon will go over the best Compressor settings for DVD production as well as the settings for internet delivery.
  • We’ll get a quick Photoshop tutorial on just what a mask is and how to use it to merge two layers into one.
  • We’ll also learn how to create blu-ray DVDs on a Mac, whether a single disc or multiple copies.
  • Gordon will also share with us the decision behind Bunim/Murray’s recent jump from FCS to Avid and what others are doing.

Everyone in attendance will get a chance to take home some raffle prices. This month we have some great software and plugins from Noise Industries and memberships from MacProVideo.

We would like to again thank our Platinum Sponsor, AJA Video Systems, for their continued support of the Seattle Final Cut Pro User Group. Be sure to visit www.aja.com to learn about the tools they make for storytellers.
