I’m attending the FCP SuperMeet in Las Vegas next Tuesday. This is an annual meeting at NAB of all of the FCP User Groups from all over the world. In it’s 10th year, the SuperMeet has been an opportunity for firms to make short presentations about how their products are helpful to Editors.
This year’s event had an agenda posted that included the same group of presenters. However, that all changed suddenly yesterday. Word has spread through the industry that all of the presenting firms were informed that they would not be allowed to speak. Instead, one firm has requested the entire event for their own presentation and they will not allow any other firm to share the stage with them. The organizers of the SuperMeet have agreed with this request. The new firm that is occupying the entire night of the SuperMeet? It’s widely believed to be Apple.
I look forward to seeing what they’ve been working on, and the improvements they’ve made in my everyday tools. I’ll report back from my own expereinces, but I wanted to make sure you knew something was afoot.
